Extreme ranked set sampling: A comparison with regression and ranked set sampling estimators
نویسنده
چکیده
Ranked set sampling (RSS) assumed perfect ranking i.e. there will be no errors in ranking the units with respect to the variable of interest. In fact for most practical applications, it is not easy to rank the units without errors in ranking. There will be a loss in efficiency, i.e. RSS will give a larger variance due to the errors in ranking the units. To reduce the errors in ranking in estimating the population mean, the extreme ranked set sampling (ERSS) procedure is used and compared to its counterpart RSS and regression estimators.

Design Based Estimation of Finite Population Mean in Ranked Set Sampling
Abstract. This Article introduce method of ranked set sampling with replacement (RSSWR) in finite population and express how to computing samples of inclusion probability for this method. The Horvitz-Thompson and Hansen-Hurwtz estimators using auxiliary variables introduce for this design and use 2011-12 Urban Households Income and Income and Expenditure survey data, gathered for Tehran by stat...
متن کاملStratified Median Ranked Set Sampling: Optimum and Proportional Allocations
In this paper, for the Stratified Median Ranked Set Sampling (SMRSS), proposed by Ibrahim et al. (2010), we examine the proportional and optimum sample allocations that are two well-known methods for sample allocation in stratified sampling. We show that the variances of the mean estimators of a symmetric population in SMRSS using optimum and proportional allocations to strata are smaller than ...

Double robust extreme ranked set sampling (DRERSS) and its properties for estimating the population median are suggested. The performance of DRERSS with respect to simple random sampling (SRS), ranked set sampling (RSS) and extreme ranked set sampling (ERSS) schemes is considered. Real data set that consist of heights of 346 students are used to evaluate the DRERSS method. It is found that when...
متن کاملOn Concomitants of Order Statistics from Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern Bivariate Lomax Distribution and its Application in Estimation
‎In this paper‎, ‎we have dealt with the distribution theory of concomitants of order statistics arising from Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern bivariate Lomax distribution‎. ‎We have discussed the estimation of the parameters associated with the distribution of the variable Y of primary interest‎, ‎based on the ranked set sample defined by ordering the marginal observations...
متن کاملTest of the Correlation Coefficient in Bivariate Normal Populations Using Ranked Set Sampling
Ranked Set Sampling (RSS) is a statistical method for data collection that leads to more efficient estimators than competitors based on Simple Random Sampling (SRS). We consider testing the correlation coefficient of bivariate normal distribution based on Bivariate RSS (BVRSS). Under one-sided and two-sided alternatives, we show that the new tests based on BVRSS are more powerful than the usua...
